OMG, BJ Penn...

...is back and I was super stoked to hear this because BJ is one of the few legends still competing in the UFC today.

Then I heard that he's fighting Frankie Edgar...

at 145......

Does BJ have a manager? If he does, then he needs a different one. These types of decisions seem to be the story of BJ's career.

Two problems I have with this.

1. Why's he fighting Edgar? The first fight I thought BJ won but Edgar was "busier" and looked more active in the judges eyes. The second fight, there was no doubt. Edgar made the necessary improvements and won decisively. BJ is 0-2 against Edgar and the case should be closed for now. Maybe at least take a different fight first. THERE ARE TONS OF OTHER GREAT FIGHTS TO BE MADE FOR BJ AT 155 or 145.

2. He should be fighting at 155. Why would he decide to go to 145 for his first fight back? HE'S NEVER EVEN FOUGHT THERE BEFORE IIRC. His last few fights were at 170. I would have preferred him to take a fight at 155 first and see how he feels before making such a drastic cut. You never know how a weight cut is gonna go if it's your first time. Remember Florian looked nearly dead at 145. After at least one fight at 155, then he could decide to go to 145 so that his weight cut is more gradual rather than abrupt. He can also focus more on sharpening his tools rather than losing weight.

Thoughts? Do you think that the UFC or BJ should have gone in a different direction regarding his return?
