Joe Rogan vs Howard Stern.

I read another thread about Rogan's comedy and I know he is a standup comedian since many years but I never checked out Rogan's standup until today. I listened to his podcasts sometimes in the past, then stopped because I didn't like the excessive use of foul language but recently I again watched one or two of his podcasts.
So - now I did check out 3 [short] clips of his comedy on youtube and I didn't laugh once. And don't get me wrong, I have great respect for comedians because I can only imagine how hard it is to "have to be" funny. Saying funny stuff is something that comes natural out of a situation, but if you have to sit down and make up funny stuff for your standup comedy act, it must be super hard. So - I do think Rogan got some jokes while doing UFC commentary or on his podcast, but I just never laughed once when I watched those 3 clips of his standup comedy.

But - it's not like I have watched 4 hours of his standup work, so maybe I would have laughed about other stuff. But what I realised is this - and now we come back to the thread title [Joe Rogan vs Howard Stern]: There is a difference between being funny and being obscene. I did listen to Howard Stern Show material in the past and I did realise one thing: 90 % of the things that are said on the Howard Stern show are obscene and only 10 % are really funny. And listen guys - I still do listen to the Howard Stern Show (sometimes) so I am not criticising it, that would be hypocritical. But I just remembered those "Roasts" on the Howard Stern Show when Gary or Artie or whoever of the Stern Staff got roasted, and I realised one thing: 90 % of what they say is not really funny, it is just filled with the F word, with the word motherf*er, other obscene language or making fun of the way somebody looks. So - the recipe of a joke seems to be that I tell a below average or even complete unfunny joke and then I add "...isn't that right you piece of sh*t" at the end, and suddenly everybody laughs.

- And when I watched those 3 clips of Rogan's standup comedy, it reminded me of that recipe: Rogan tells a half funny story, an average joke and then at the end some profane language at the end and it kind of "enhances" the joke? Because if grown men which standup comedians are use obscene language, it is somehow "funny" because most grown men do not run around using obscene language every 5 seconds.
