Listen, I like Chris Weidman...

Chris is awesome. He's an absolute badass and very fun to watch. He's also a cool person, in general. I'll even go as far as to say that he is a legit bad match up for an aging Anderson and may have even been able to beat Silva without the ridiculous shenanigans of the first fight and the unbelievably lucky injury that happened in the second...maybe. I still say Anderson successfully sizes up, tires out and finishes Weidman in a longer, fluke-free fight. I only hope he isn't too old to come back and prove it.

The only thing that puts a bad taste in my mouth about Weidman is the legions of frothing, starving Anderson haters and brain dead literalists that think Chris is "Silva's kryptonite" and "has his number" based simply on the number 0-2.

Chris put in two solid first rounds against the champ and then won by freak occurrence early in the second, both times. Anderson is a notorious slow starter against dangerous opponents and frequently gives up the first round.

The first time he threw a sloppy, desperate combo at a back pedaling, Andy with his hands down and eyes closed, and managed to land. Never happens again in 100 fights. Second fight, he checks a leg kick and it breaks. He's the luckiest guy ever. So yeah, both wins are legit, they count, he's champ, but none of my questions are answered.

The difference between Weidman and the others that put in good first rounds against the champ is that Chris actually hurt Anderson and put him in danger, both times. However, can Chris put in five rounds are strong as his first? I doubt it. He looked exhausted in the second round of the first fight. He went from very sharp striking in the first to Forrest Griffin in the second.

Can Chris last five rounds with Anderson when no freak finish happens? I doubt it. He's too aggressive and willing to stand. Anderson figures him out in a fluke-free, fight. All it takes is for Anderson to land one crazy shot and zap his confidence. He's lucky the MMA gods gave him an out before Anderson tagged him with something and made him start doubting himself in the first two fights.

No Weidman hate. I just see his wins over Anderson as a lot more "Whoa, anything can happen in MMA" than "Man, this guy has Anderson's number." In fact, I think the latter is absolutely ludicrous.

So, there. He lost, and it sucks, but I still believe in The Spider. I'm far from convinced that Chris is too much for Anderson. I hope he recovers and comes back to remind everyone how good he is.

And yes, I know the horse is dead, by now, I just don't get online, much.
