Greetings.
So, I'm single as of about an hour ago, and I really think that it's best that we move on completely. We've been living in this place for 6 months now, and we're on a year lease. I understand that breaking up is not a penalty free exit from a lease: but, as is my understanding, landlords have to make reasonable attempts to mitigate their damages. They can't just sit back and collect rent from you for the remainder of your lease.
Has anyone had a similar experience? If so, what went on?
