Well, first off,
1. My coach says I dont have any power. I seriously dont think this is true, like I think I do hit harder than average( hopefully). I dont know if he draws this assumption from me hitting the pads or my sparring. If its from me hitting the pads/bags then maybe I really have no power, but if its from sparring, i just cant hit fast enough. To go close to my full power it takes much longer for me to hit my opponent( much longer in a boxing sense), so by the time I punch they probably already seen it coming. For the guys that train as long as me I can hit them but for those that trained much longer getting countered when I throw that right( or any other power punches) is almost guaranteed. I think sometimes I pull back a bit subconsciously in fear of getting countered. Any tips?
2. If I really don't have any power? What helps? Do pullups help? If anybody has any real experience (pullups really increased your power) or if anybody has done bench presses or bicep curls( the "useless" exercises for punching power) and REALLY got stronger, please tell me. I've gone to the gym a few times but the ache really slows me down when I train the day after.
Really need some help, kinda depressed right now. Thanks!
