I've known this guy for over a decade. He's overweight and has never been good with girls. In fact, let's just say he is stuck at close to nothing. I really wouldn't care except that he always seems miserable. I became a trainer about 2 years ago and ever since I've been asking him casually to come to the gym and work out with me making sure I don't pressure him.
Well a few weeks ago he took my offer and I never saw this coming. He truthfully is having impressive strength gains and it's been very encouraging for me to watch. However, we are at the one month mark of training and he is developing a ridiculous ego out of nowhere. He now rubs his gains in the face of others who don't train. In addition, he is even getting on my ass about me not progressing as fast (obviously my gains are slower as my muscles are closer to their full capacity). It is driving me nuts!
I am not in favor of anyone belittling someone else over not lifting and he has no reason to do it to others since I never did it to him and has spent his entire life inactive. I don't know how to approach this without discouraging him but something needs to be said.
