Beginner Q about Competing

I just started Muay Thai and plan only to go for twice a week b/c of other priorities

I'm 27 and my goal is to compete in a K-1 amateur match and win! just once at least! while I'm still somewhat young and have the time but at the same time I want to compete in BJJ or at least progress but b/c of money it's hard to do so

Q1. Does it really take at least 1 year to get in the ring?!?!? I asked 2 gyms when doing trials and they say the same thing about smokers etc.. I understand not getting hurt and all that but doesn't everyone progress differently?

is it for the pride of the gym but what if I move? or switch gyms? I have start all over? I can understand 6 months depending how good you are but a mandatory year??? Are you just don't want my money? I mean I hit the normal gym all the time to lift weights, and run all the time and shadow box at home :icon_cry2 I know there are bad asses out there and yea I'm not anxious to get my ass beat but it's just questionable...

I went to a real legit boxing gym and did a try out there and he said 7-8 months which I think is reasonable esp for that gym

2. Am I going the right route as well taking MT? esp if I want to compete at a K-1 competition? Sorry, I don't want to sound like a know it all but if I had a fighting style I would want to be like Masato b/c I enjoy the science of boxing, angles, footwork b/c I just don't like kicking so much or the MT rules..yea I"m thinking too much

3. How many times did you go a week to compete? not really worried about conditioning but more about the skills and sparring..b/c I'm really anxious to start BJJ too and at least progress and compete as well.....ahhhh choices!!!

TIME, MONEY, ENERGY and other adult priorities..please be patient with me, if only I was 18 or 21 again. ahhh dreams and goals!
