When I first saw Basketball Diaries about 12-13 years ago I promised myself I would show it to my kids when they were getting to this age where they might soon be exposed to drugs. It seemed like it might be a really good tool to scare the shit out of them and leave a lasting impression.
I also felt like Requiem For A Dream might be a LITTLE too harsh for a 14 year old. Basketball Diaries is no picnic, but it's not quite as graphic or brutal.
Is this a good idea, or is it going to backlash and bite me in the ass?
