Most wrestlers need serious brain re-wiring.

As we saw yesterday and many other times with skilled strikers like Rory, Aldo, Anderson Silva,Saffedine, Demetrious and other guys that can pretty much strike you with everything from leg kicks, punches, elbow, knees using a huge variety of set-ups and striking patterns, this create some problems for many wrestling based guys I noticed.

Basically, wrestlers at the top of the UFC ranks have won countless competitions with their mix of toughness, strength and ground technique. A few like Dillashaw have done superb work in the striking department, but many like Ellenberger and T-Wood, to name recent examples, are relying big time on the sledgehammers hidden in their gloves and their takedowns if shit hits the fan while they are standing.

What I find is that when a top level striker is putting pressure on them and stay right in their face moving a leg, a shoulder and doing all kinds of feints, this seems to literally exhaust the brains of those power wrestlers by having their brains constantly react to those fake signals that top strikers keep sending them. For every strike delivered some of those guys will send like 10 fake signals. It takes them of their game.

Those feints do not work as well with guys like Floyd Mayweather as his brain is so good that he will only make a small move when there is something real coming at him.

While the wrestling curriculum delivers on many plans and develops very tough athletes, I do think that if some wrestlers don't want to look mesmerized/paralyzed in front of a good striker, it is a MUST for them to learn to decipher a high volume of fake signal from the real stuff coming to hurt them.
The great thing is that it is entirely teachable.

Based on what I saw from T-Wood yesterday, I am ready to bet that he will be decapitated by a guy like Saffedine unless he really re-wires his brains better (and I believe the guy can.)

BTW- I am not saying wrestlers have fucked-up brains. Just that many of them MUST learn to decipher the flood of micro-signals thrown at them buy skilled strikers like Pettis.

Feel free to comment on the above and also let me know if based on what you saw yesterday you think Saffedine would be an easy snack for T-Wood or you if think that there is a good chance that T-Wood will need so help to walk off the ring?
