In what is being referred to as a "Victory," the public school-board in Vancouver, the HIV and other STD's, Drug Addiction, and Homelessness capital of Canada, has just passed a motion for genderless bathrooms in public schools.

These are the measures that will be enforced by the board:

Seems like a brilliant idea to me. I can't see any future problems arising from all students sharing a single bathroom, people having to refer to people by their preferred gender or the school board punishing students when claims of LGBTTQ+ discrimination are brought forward.
Identity Politics and Political Correctness strikes again.
What are your thoughts Sherdog?

It’s a victory for the LGBTQ community in the Lower Mainland – the concept of genderless bathrooms is coming to Vancouver schools....The new policy calls for single-stall, gender neutral washrooms in all school buildings so that a child will not have to tell anyone their gender based on the bathroom that they use. |

“It also means that if you are born a boy but you identify as a girl, that you can ask to be called by a different name and that you can have an appropriate pronoun used to address you.” |
These are the measures that will be enforced by the board:
Quote:
-Define appropriate expectations, language, behaviors and actions in order to prevent discrimination and harassment; -Ensure that complaints of discrimination or harassment based on sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression are taken seriously and dealt with expeditiously and effectively through consistently applied policy and procedures; -Raise awareness and improve understanding of the lives of people who identify as LGBTTQ+; and -Strive to eliminate the systemic inequities and barriers for members of the school community whose real or perceived identity is LGBTTQ+ and demonstrate accountability in leadership so that everyone is treated with fairness and respect. |
