and I'm talking about Chael Sonnen vs Jon Jones. Leading up to the fight, I felt that I knew what was going through Chael Sonnen's mind. This was his last chance... He had the tools to beat him, he just needed the stars to align and go out there and perform like he can.
I felt Jones would get the early lead and Punish Sonnen, and Sonnen's Iron Jaw would have saved him. When Jones goes for the kill, he tends to over exert himself and get himself introuble. I felt jones at some point go for a finnish and give up position and Sonnen would then capitalized.
With the group of people I was watching, everyone felt that Jones was going to dismantle Sonnen no problem, but I felt they were wrong, I was the only one who believed. I felt Sonnen's experience would be a factor. If he could get Jones tired, I believed Jones would of been frightened and start to lose his cool. Thats when the fight would begin to crown the champion.
After Jones came out and I saw the how big Jon Jones Really is, that's when reality hit. Fuuuuuuuu... Jones is a Monster, He's huge!!!
even still, I felt it was Sonnen's destiny to defeat Jon Jones. Everything went well, Sonnen wasnt to overwhelmed with the size disadvantage. The ending sucked since I felt it was way too early. If it's perfhaps a fighters last chance at the title, let him go out with out a shadow of a doubt, dont stop it when it begins to look like the beggining of the end.
Man that night sucked, especially having to face the crowd whom you just explained to how Sonnen can and will win...
I still have hopes that Sonnen will work his way back into a Rematch. The man is a competitor, win lose or draw, you know what kind of fight he is going to bring.
