Statistically speaking, it's usually the winner of the second fight that finishes the trilogy. I was thinking of all the great trilogies in UFC history and it almost always ends up with the winner of the second fight finishing on top (GSP vs. Hughes, Liddell vs. Couture, Sylvia vs. AA, Forrest vs. Tito). The only one anomaly I can think of is BJ vs. Hughes. I guess it's because the winner of the second fight has learned and improved from their mistakes in the first to surpass the opponent who bested him in the first.
Statistically speaking, Cain is favored in the trilogy if history is any indication. Plus he has shown that he has improved drastically and learned from his first loss to JDS.
