With the unstoppable machine GSP out of the game for now, what's the future of the welterweight belt? We have a new champ. Will he have a long reign or is the WW belt going to become a hot potato?
Personally, I think it's going to be much like the LHW situation before Jones came along, with a series of champs in a relatively short period of time. Think about how quickly the belt changed hands from Rampage, to Forrest, to Rashad, to Machida, to Shogun, and then finally to Jones.
I expect Hendricks will have at least one defense, but I doubt it's more than three. The WW division just has too many capable fighters right now. I think what we have is basically a similar situation to what's going on in the LW division, with a lot of very evenly matched guys floating around at the top.
