Here's the issue with that.
The "Aldo already beat Swanson" comments are like, "JDS already beat Cain Velasquez."
Aldo earned a flash KO over Swanson, a flying knee, like JDS' flash KO over Cain.
What happened later?
Cain annihilated Antonio Silva and then JDS.
Cub on the other hand suffered two more setbacks at the hands of Chad Mendes and Riccardo Lamas. Unfortunate? Yes, but then it lit a fire under Swanson who went on tear, taking out George Roop, Ross Pearson, and Charles Oliveira. He then outpointed highly talented, Porier (a contender in his own right), and then put on the performance of his life, tearing the dangerous, Dennis Siver apart with crisp, clean, polished striking.
Overall, nobody can deny how much Cub Swanson has improved since losing to Aldo.
Don't get me wrong, Aldo vs Swanson II would not be a one-sided fight like JDS vs Cain II, but Swanson definitely has the tools to beat the featherweight champ, or at least give him a 5 round war that will leave the judges pondering 'who did enough to win the rematch?'
